New Tracklisting? I think so…

Has Oasis’ new album track list finally leaked or is it just another fake?
For reasons unknown to us NJR.fr retracted their post a few hours later as the official Oasis forum on OasisInet removed refrences to the French article…

Dig Out Your Soul Track List :

1.Bag It Up
2. The Turning
3. Waiting for the Rapture
4.The Shock of the Lightning
5. I’m Outta Time
6. (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady
7. Falling Down
8. To be Where There’s Life
9. Ain’t Got Nothin’
10. The Nature of Reality
11. Soldier On

After an absence of three years, the band from Manchester presents its seventh album. The English press has not lied by presenting the latest Oasis as an excellent album.

Dig Out Your Soul is a treasure trove of music and is undoubtedly the best studio album of the duo. Liam Gallagher said would compose songs out of the usual construction and moving towards a new sound. It’s done!

The progression of pieces is very consistent. From the raw energy of the first titles to the more sophisticated pieces of the end, the auditor discovers new sounds by Oasis stages as if the group wanted to guide him throughout the hearing. The Gallagher brothers put aside their sound British pop music to focus on a sound much more rock, sometimes folk. And it’s very heavy, especially the track (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady.

Never in excess, the rockers introduce arrangements of all kinds with the precision of a goldsmith. In addition, the drumming holds a prominent place in pieces and provides real effectiveness in securities.

The fans and foes alike will find themselves with an album of great quality.

New Album Details!!!

June 24th, 2008

The Shock Of The Lightning’ new single out September 29th

‘Dig Out Your Soul’ new album out October 6th

Oasis are set to return later this year with a new single and their seventh studio album. The single,‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ is released on September 29th and the album, ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ follows in October; it is the first new Oasis music since last year’s ‘Lord Don’t Slow Me Down’, taken from the on the road film of the same name. ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ sees Dave Sardy return to the producer’s chair following his work on their 2005 album, ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’. Recorded at Abbey Road and mixed in Los Angeles, all four members once again contribute tracks, but the recording marks a new approach for the band as described by the band’s principle songwriter, Noel:

“I wanted to write music that had a groove; not songs that followed that traditional pattern of verse, chorus and middle eight. I wanted a sound that was more hypnotic; more driving. Songs that would draw you in, in a different way. Songs that you would maybe have to connect to - to feel.”

The lead single is still unmistakably Oasis, a Noel penned song with Liam’s immediately familiar voice to the fore underlining their distinctive brand of finger in the socket rock ’n’ roll.

‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ may well represent the most recognisable Oasis song on the album but, again, the new approach on ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ was present on this lead track as Noel explains:

“If ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ sounds instant and compelling to you, it’s because it was written dead fast. And recorded dead fast. ‘The Shock of The Lightning’ basically is the demo. And it has retained its energy. And there’s a lot to be said for that, I think. The first time you record something is always the best.”

‘Dig Out Your Soul’ will be the first album released on the band’s own Big Brother label worldwide.

First Thoughts On New Oasis Album!

June 11th, 2008

THE new OASIS album is on the horizon and Radio 1 DJ EDITH BOWMAN has been given a sneak listen. Her verdict? It’s the best thing they’ve produced in years.

In this month’s Clash magazine she says: “They are back and on total firing form. There are six NOEL GALLAGHER tracks, three from LIAM GALLAGHER and one each from GEM ARCHER and ANDY BELL and they are all huge.

“The first single really reminded me of when I heard stuff like Rock ’n’ Roll Star and Supersonic for the first time. Liam has properly acquired the title of great songwriter and Noel just kicks ass on guitar and vocals.

“We forget how great a band they are. And no matter how many people try, there really is only one Liam — he’s a proper legend. Get excited ’cos it will blow you away.”

Baby Bowman must have liked what he heard as well and couldn’t wait to get out and have a proper listen.

Edith and EDITORS frontman TOM SMITH are celebrating the arrival of RUDY BRAE BOWMAN SMITH. Both mum and baby are said to be doing well.

Well done CHRIS MOYLES — sorry, Tom…

New Album Review

June 11th, 2008

The following review is from Clash Magazine

“Now I hope I don’t get in trouble for this but I have heard the whole of the new Oasis album. I could tell you what it is called but then I’d have to kill you, or I’d have a hit on me. What I can say is that they are back and, fuck me, on total firing form. There are six Noel tracks, three from Liam, one from Gem and one from Andy and they are all huge. The first single will hit you like a tonne weight and just really reminded me of when I heard stuff like ‘Rock n’ Roll Star’ and ‘Supersonic’ for the first time. Liam has properly acquired the title of great sonwriter and Noel just kicks ass on guitar and vocals. Gem and Andy are also always the unsung heros who deserve the recognition of holding the whole thing together. I really do think they are such a strong influence. I had the pleasure of hanging out with them all doing interviews for their press stuff, which meant I had an hour long interview with each of them individually. We forget how great a band they are and no matter how many people try, there really is only one Liam Gallagher, he’s a proper legend. Get excited cos it will blow you away.P.S. Those tracks that were leaked aren’t even on the album.”

Noel Confirms New Oasis Album

May 18th, 2008

Although not REALLY news, NME reports:

Oasis have confirmed that their new album will be out in the autumn.

Although no official date has been set for the release Noel Gallagher told Russell Brand’s Radio 2 show last night (May 17) that the band will be releasing their as-yet-untitled-album in September.

The Oasis guitarist refused to be drawn on the exact date, claiming “his manager” would tell him off for messing up the launch by letting the date just slip out.

As previously reported on NME.COM  three songs reportedly from the new album were leaked online.

Links to downloads of ‘I Wanna Live A Dream (In My Record Machine)’, ‘Nothin On Me’ and Stop The Clocks appeared on messageboards, fansites and YouTube earlier this month.

New Drummer Already?

May 15th, 2008

NME Reports Noel has already recruited a new Oasis drummer:

Chris SharrockOasis’s Noel Gallagher has reignited his feud with Robbie Williams by stealing his drummer.

Following the departure of Zak Starkey, Gallagher has recruited Chris Sharrock, who used to drum for Williams as well as recently The La’s.

Gallagher famously called Williams a “fat dancer”.

A source told The Daily Mirror: “Oasis and Robbie have an ongoing feud. This move is sure to infuriate Robbie.

“Everyone thinks Chris has had enough of sitting on the picket line and not playing music (Williams is currently in dispute with label EMI).

Oasis aren’t striking against anyone so at least he’ll be getting a bit of action now.”

Zak Starkey Out?

May 12th, 2008

Zak StarkeyThe Sun reports:

THE curse of the OASIS drummer has struck again.

RINGO STARR’s son ZAK STARKEY will not record on any additional tracks or singles from their forthcoming album.

Word from inside the camp is that Zak might never play the pots and pans for the Manc lads again. A source said: “There have been arguments with NOEL GALLAGHER and general disagreements. It looks like the album will be his last involvement with the band.”

Bizarre Lord Noel has a reputation for going through drummers like dirty socks.

He binned both TONY McCARROLL and ALAN WHITE when he felt their time had come.

NME Reports the Leak

May 6th, 2008

Three Gallagher tracks for new record appear on internet

Three songs reportedly for Oasis’ next album have leaked online.

Links to downloads of the tracks, ‘ I Wanna Live A Dream (In My Record Machine)’, ‘Nothin’ On Me’ and ‘Stop the Clocks’ started appearing on messageboards and fansites throughout the day (May 6).

Since then some fans have copied the clips and made them available via sites like Youtube. It appears steps are being taken to remove the demos with several previously working links now dead.

Of the leaked tracks, NME.COM has had a listen to the three songs and here is our initial impression.

‘Nothin’ On Me’
A relentless crunchy riff from Noel Gallagher and a sneery nasal vocal from Liam characterise this rollocking new Oasis song. It’s a meaty return for the band, more Led Zeppelin-inspired than their more subtle recent work, such as ‘The Importance Of Being Idle’. “They got nothing on me,” Liam repeats, “I don’t care what they say – all I want is the truth”. A forceful return from the Gallaghers, although lacking the smash’n'grab choruses of some of their other anthems.

‘I Wanna Live A Dream (In My Record Machine)’
Opening with a soft tambourine shake cut through by Noel Gallagher’s sombre acoustic guitar, Noel sings John Lennon-style vocals on this quieter number. Tambourine and bells rattling in the background throughout give a Doors-esque edge to the affair, with drummer Zak Starkey’s glammy stomp pumping in a minute in to add weight to the song. “Take Me, back to the darkness where they sent me,” Noel Gallagher sings on this subtle yet uplifting and punchy number. “I want to live the dream” he sings on an uprising chorus, “I want a piece of the world”, before weighty piano stabs add to the build. Towards the death a classically understated Noel Gallagher riff brings the song home. Understated yet upliftingly epic, it’s a song of fine balance and poise.

‘Stop The Clocks’
Noel Gallagher is a huge fan of this song, naming their 2006 ‘Best Of’ album after it. Noel sings lead vocals over urgent acoustic strums, while a psychedelic guitar sound effect again adds a Doors-esque element to the intro. Noel cuts in over his own more conventional vocals with an echo-effect voice sample before his bandmates add to the build by adding layered backing vocals. It’s a lighters-in-the-air moment for sure, although without the immediacy of a ‘Wonderwall’ or ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’. “Stop the clocks and turn the world around,” he sings. “Let your love lay me down…”.
“When the night is over there’ll be no sound”, he continues in a Lee Mavers-esque repetitive croon, before a drumbeat pounds and clatters towards a riffy crescendo, with a sudden twang to finish.
